About me

My name is Gilbert Yu and I am a photographer in the Los Angeles area. I love hiking, traveling, and photographing, especially in newfound and interesting locations. I love finding hidden little locations that no one would glance at and find beauty in those locations, either with a photograph of an interesting detail or a portrait of a person in that location. My passion is to create beautiful and interesting images. Whether it is portraits of your child and family, photographs of a beautiful wedding, landscape photography in the Sierras, or unique travel photography, I am obsessed with creating timeless art in every image that I create.

Sweet newborn | Redondo Beach newborn photographer

Lighthouse Family Portraits | Palos Verdes Family Photographer

This family portrait session was a really fun and special one.  Not only is my son good friends with one of the boys, but this family has lived on the Coast Guard property of the Point Vicente Lighthouse in Rancho Palos Verdes for the past few years by virtue of dad being an officer in the Coast Guard.  But alas, dad received a new assignment in Michigan (which will be closer to family) and they wanted some portraits to remember the time they spent at the lighthouse.  We’ll miss seeing you around and wish you the best!

Wildflower Portrait Session | Palos Verdes Child Photographer

After missing photographing my kids among the wildflowers last year, I dragged them out for a quick session out among the flowers this year.  We actually had a great time and I also got some images to put on my walls as a bonus.  I’m already looking forward to next year’s blooms!

Wildflower Family Portrait Session | Palos Verdes Family Photographer

I had this wonderful portrait session with this family in one of my all-time favorite spots…the spring wildflowers!  The little ones are always a challenge to photograph, but this little girl was well worth the effort.  Big bro was great too and likes to take care of his little sis’.  Thanks for a fun session!

Wildflower and Beach Maternity Session | Palos Verdes and Manhattan Beach Photographer

I simply love the spring season with the warmer weather and the wildflowers blooming.  This was my first maternity session among the beautiful wildflowers in Palos Verdes and what a great location to anticipate the beginning of a new life.  Deanna and Tim were great to work with and I’m sure that you can see that Deanna definitely has that maternity ‘glow’.  We also had a fun time shooting at the Manhattan Beach Pier.  I’m looking forward to meeting your new member of your family soon.
